Perspectives, Part 2

June 22, 2016

Turns out fuel in the Netherlands isn’t much cheaper than UK. I paid US$6.97 a gallon today.

Just after filling up, I stopped at an ATM to get more euros, and had this brief exchange with a local guy:

“Are you traveling the world?”

“Yes”

“Your father must be a millionaire”

Interesting, on so many levels. That he attributed any expense to my father, even though I am clearly not a young man. And that he assumes it is prohibitively expensive to travel.

And if I was traveling on Daddy’s money, would I really be riding a 250?

Maybe.

Probably.

Yes.

  1. Yep, I’ve also been accused of having my parent’s money because I’m a sailor. First, the connection that being a sailor means you have money (which is not true at all), and the fact that at 48 years old I would be taking my parent’s money just boggles me.

  2. That guy sounds like a millennial, still living with his parents waiting to inherit if anything but a hand me down house n car.
