Van Halen, or Barry Manilow?

January 15, 2016

Which would you rather have stuck in your head?

Riding through Panama, I couldn’t stop singing along with David Lee Roth for days. Although the song has nothing to do with the country.

Neither does Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana” have anything to do with the Bolivian town on the shore of Lake Titicaca. But that’s where I was headed for the night if I could just get through the border crossing. And unfortunately, every time I thought of the town, the chorus to the song started over in my head.

As I came around a corner, I saw these two women from Argentina having lunch on the side of the road, overlooking Lake Titicaca. I couldn’t help but grin. They were having a great time.

It’s a huge lake.

Looking down on Copacabana and Lake Titicaca.

At the end of the day, having either song on constant repeat in my head is annoying. But I suppose there are others that could definitely be worse. I will let you choose the song. Between the two locations, my personal favorite remains Panama.
